Huge breakthrough in the Senate bipartisan bill to help fix gaps in current gun background check system
by Mark Barden (Daniel’s father). Sandy Hook, CT: Yesterday, there was a huge breakthrough in the Senate, which introduced a new bipartisan bill to help fix gaps in the current background check system.
Unlike recent attempts to pass gun safety reform, the Fix NICS Act already has several Republican co-sponsors. For the first time since Congress failed to expand background checks in the months after my sweet little Daniel was murdered nearly five years ago, we have a powerful opportunity to see Congress finally take meaningful action to prevent gun violence.
But we won’t get there unless we keep the pressure on Congress to pass this legislation. Already, 13,709 people have signed our petition for this new bill.
